We eliminate the impairment with our Project “Unimpaired House”
The Project of “Unimpaired House’ which has been designed by the unit of Küpkökarge in Bahçeşehir University Vocational Academy Technical Department and manufactured under the support of Prefabrik Yapı A.Ş. aims at helping the blind individuals have a more quality life and at eliminating many barriers that they encounter during their daily lives in their houses.
As being Prefabrik Yapı A.Ş. in this projects in which we have participated within the scope and context of a social responsibility we aim at having the impaired individuals live at their houses as easily and comfortably as possible, and have the standards of a house created by use of technology.
The Project of unimpaired house for the impaired individuals has been designed by the students in the Küpkökarge unit in the Technical Department and by Ms. İnci Zaim Gökbay who is an academician at the Vocational Academy of Bahçeşehir University.
There are approximately nine million impaired individuals and seven hundred thousand of these individuals are visually impaired people. Although there have been very many studies and Research and Development studies and work carried out with respect to providing the impaired individuals with easier lives, there have hardly been any concrete studies with respect to providing them with an easy life at their houses. Although there have been many works with respect to helping the impaired people have an easier life outside and away from their houses such as participation in cultural activities, easier transportation, and education, they haven’t received much help with respect to having an easier life in their houses, so that they can do their own work by themselves in their houses. The research made shows that when the visually impaired individuals have to live in their houses alone by themselves, they are not able to meet most of their needs by themselves, because their houses are not convenient technically with this respect. Therefore those impaired individuals who are not able to meet their own needs in their own houses alone have a difficult time in adopting the life outside their houses. Therefore with this Project of Bahçeşehir University, Vocational Academy which is called “The Unimpaired House” a first step is taken in order to provide the impaired individuals with an electronically equipped houses in which they can meet their own needs by themselves.
